Born in Verona in 1987, Andrea Battistoni is one of the rising young talent in the international music scene.
He began, in 2006, a surprising career conducting in important theatres, with the respective orchestra, as the Bayerische staatsoper (Munich), Deutsche Oper of Berlin, Mariinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg, Palau de les arts of Valencia, Teatro Bunka Kaikan of Tokyo,Semperoper of Dresden, Royal Opera of Stockholm, National Center of Performing Arts of Bejing, Sydney Opera House, Arena of Verona, Teatro San Carlo of Naples, Parco della Musica of Rome, Teatro La Fenice of Venice, Teatro Carlo Felice of Genova, Teatro Verdi of Trieste, Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, Teatro Massimo of Palermo; he conducted also prestigious orchestra as the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Tokyo Philarmonic, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic, Netherlands Philharmonic, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, l'Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, l'Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, l'Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, l'Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, l'Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, l'Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano e Trento, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Torino.
In 2012 he becomes, only 24 years old, the youngest conductor who ever tread the stage of the Teatro alla Scala of Milan, with Le Nozze di Figaro, and after a short time he made his debut with the Filarmonica della Scala in a symphonic concert.
From 2014 to 2016 he is First Guest Conductor of the Carlo Felice Theatre of Genoa; from 2017 to 2019 he is Principal Conductor of the Genova theater.
In 2015 he has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra; they regularly perform together at Suntory Hall and in major concert halls and Opera theaters across Japan.
After just one year, in 2016 he has been named Chief Conductor of Tokyo Philharmonic, strengthening his relashionship with this renowned ensamble.
He has been First Guest Conductor at the Teatro Regio di Parma in 2011 and 2012, conducting its orchestra in many symphonic and operatic productions, in the occasion of the Festival Verdi and prestigious international tournée.
Andrea Battistoni has already conducted many different opera: Il barbiere di Siviglia, Il viaggio a Reims (G.Rossini), Nabucco, Attila, Macbeth, Luisa Miller, Stiffelio, Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, La Traviata, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino, Aida, Otello, Falstaff (G.Verdi), La Bohéme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La fanciulla del West, Turandot (G.Puccini), Carmen (G.Bizet), Adriana Lecouvreur (Cilea), Mefistofele (Boito), Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), Cavalleria Rusticana, Amico Fritz, Iris (Mascagni), Billy Budd (Britten).
He performed in different festival as the International Festival A. B. Michelangeliî of Brescia and Bergamo, Rossini Opera Festival, Festival della Valle d'Itria, Spoleto Festival dei 2 mondi, Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore, Spiele Festival Sudtirol, Maifest Spiele Wiesbaden; he played also with a lot of well known artists as Placido Domingo, Diana Damrau, Ivo Pogorelich, Enrico Dindo, Mariella Devia, Leo Nucci, Sergej Krylov, Mario Brunello, Luis Lortie, Emanuel Pahud, Vadim Repin, Pinchas Zuckerman.
A prolific recording artist, he has collaborated with prestigious labels such as Denon, MDG and Opera Rara. His CD Denon-MDG with music by Dvorak and Ifukube won the 2021 Opus Classic Award. The CD Anima Rara (Opera Rara-Warner Classics) with Ermonela Jaho and Orquestra del la Comunitat Valenciana won the 2021 IMCA Award in the Vocal Music category.
He believes that art belongs to everybody and that the widest audience has to approach her. He often brought Music in unusual places: he recently conducted the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala in the Forum Assago in Milan in front of 8000 people; he played also with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI the concert for the Italia's 150 years of unity and independence in Piazza Castello in Turin with an audience made by over 25000 people; he was the first who conducted, in modern times, an opera in the Teatro Farnese in Parma; he inaugurated the new Opera House in Muscat, Oman; he conducted in every summer a symphonic orchestra on the mountains near Verona with the goal to bring to an audience of young people too the Music.
Rizzoli in 2012 published his first book: "Non è musica per vecchi".
Andrea Battistoni started his musical studies at the age of seven with Petra and Zoltan Szabò, continuing then at the Conservatory of Music ìDallíAbacoî of his city and graduating in cello in 2006, also attending master classes with the cellist Michael Flaksman in Germany. He began to study conducting and composition in 2004, training subsequently with Ennio Nicotra in Perugia and Russia, with Gabriele Ferro at Fiesole Music School in Florence, with Gianandrea Noseda at Accademia Musicale di Stresa. He was assistant of Piercarlo Orizio. In June 2008 he made his orchestral debut at "Michelangeli" International Music Festival in Bergamo with Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto and in October 2008, thanks to Maurizio Barbacini whom he was assistant, he made his operatic debut with La bohéme at Basel Theatre.
Andrea is running a composer activity parallel to his career as a conductor: he graduated cum laude in Composition at Verona Conservatory in 2012 and wrote since then many different theater, chamber and symphonic works, always premiered with enthusiastic response from the public.
